Are These Drugs Safe?

Return To HOME Page

The use of powerful drugs in children is certainly an area of concern.   Never before have we seen so many children on such powerful medications.   Yet, do we really know if these drugs are safe?   And what are their long term effects?    If studies by the FDA are anything like the "non-existent" long term studies for vaccinations (vaccine studies last from a few days to a few weeks - at best), parents truly need to ask themselves if these drugs are safe for our children and demand to see long term studies.   The problem is that once the FDA approves a drug, if someone dies from it, it becomes almost impossible to sue the maker of that product.  Indeed, it would appear that there are no good long term studies on Ritalin.

Ritalin and similar drugs... Are they safe to use long term - in children - in adults?   How many children need to die before we get an answer to that question?    The fact that children on such medications who were previously thought to have no heart problem experience cardiac arrest and die is an issue everyone needs to take very seriously.

For parents who are concerned about this issue, please speak to your child's doctor.  A test called an echocardiogram may be able to identify the enlargement of the heart muscle.
